Awesome HUGE Faceted Oval Mandarin Spessartite Garnet from Nigeria! OK folks, we don't normally deal in cut stone and it is amazing that we are selling this considering that! This stone is referred to as Very Slightly Included for the Mandarin Species; however, it is probably more along the lines of Slightly Included for us. Please note that the stone is MUCH better in person than the above pictures indicate as the black background helps to enhance the inclusions in the picture so you get a better idea of what you are looking at as regards inclusions.

This stone is well cut though there is a slight fish-eye (Re-cutting this would probably double the value very quickly as it should hide the inclusions VERY well). Polish on this is excellent and it really has GREAT face up appeal! We RARELY sell cut stones such as this and it is even rarer to get Mandarin this large in size in ANY decent quality so don't let this pass you by! We have seen similar material that is Eye-clean to Very Slightly included selling for several thousand dollars in this size range! Don't miss your chance to pick this up! 1. Nigerian and Namibian Mandarin Garnet deposits are fast being depleted with most of the earlier larger material gone already. Initial finds were alluvial in nature and as those sources are depleted more work will be required to unearth these treasures at the primary deposits. This in the end will boil down to higher prices and sporadic production.
