New find of Spessartite Garnet coming from Tanzania! Please note that this material was sold to us as Spessartite; however, we have not tested it and therefore can't certify which species of Garnet it is or may be. Judging from the striations on the exterior on many stones we are confident that most of this material is Spessartite but there are no guarantees! The color of this material is just phenomenal and runs from a lovely fiery Tangerine with Red Flashes to an Orangey Red! Please be aware that Spessartite is generally an included species of Garnet and it is extremely difficult to acquire eye-clean to flawless rough. Many of these stones are remarkably clean for this type of Garnet. There are inclusions in some of the rough; however, most inclusions tend to mask up well because of the high refractive index of this material or will facet out. We estimate that roughly 60% of the lot is Good High Facet Grade. In particular, one of the two largest stones is exceptionally clean and can be divided up to produce 2 or 3 clean finished gems! That stone alone is easily worth the price of the lot!

We have rough graded this material as being 80%+ high facet grade and there are some KILLER stones in here. The clarity on this material is MUCH better than your TYPICAL Nigerian and Namibian Mandarin Garnet and is guaranteed to please!
