DESCRIPTION:

Awesome ULTRA RARE Afghan Hackmanite Faceting Rough Lot! We were EXTREMELY lucky to come across this rough and were thrilled at the clarity. This is some of the cleanest material we have procured in over a year! Two of these stones do have some minor inclusions; however, the lot as a whole is very clean for Hackmanite. We are confident that most of the stones in here will support eye-clean to very slightly included finished stones with a little hard work. The color ranges from a Pale Purplish White to an almost Plum and most of these stones should cut in the 2+ carat range with a little hard work at the eye-clean to very slightly included level.

The three elongated pieces (2 of these are unfortunately on the thin side) look practically clean whereas the two other pieces have clean sections that should produce eye-clean or better though would require above average weight loss and dividing the stones up. The only stone that looks like it will probably produce very slightly included to slightly included is the Plum colored stone but this depends on your preferences (There is a moderately included section in this stone but it should be cut out resulting in above average weight loss). If you do a little research in the market place you will see that Hackmanite Gems command some pretty wild numbers and this lot is a give away at this price. We are confident that the Plum stone alone should have you break even on the lot at the very least once cut! We ONLY have a limited supply of this material on hand!! THESE ARE NOT SMALL PIECES WITH THE AVERAGE SIZE RUNNING 9+ CARATS!

Hackmanite is known to change color by exposure to different forms of light and its color change is known to be tenebresent. The color of the material at times can be enhanced by storage in a dark place; however, may fade upon exposure to light. This change is repeatable and not permanent. In addition, Hackmanite also produces some wild colors under UV light and is highly sought after by collectors. We don't know if we will ever get any more of this material so for all you collectors this is a win win situation!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Hackmanite Facet Rough is a transparent variety of Sodalite that is "tenebresent" and is extremely rare to come across. Afghanistan has been a steady supplier to mineral enthusiasts for Hackmanite crystals and we have rarely come upon any facet grade material.
