DESCRIPTION:

AWESOME Lot of Cornflower Blue to Velvety Kashmir Blue Sapphire Cab & Specimen Rough from a fairly new find in Afghanistan. Please note this material is NOT Facet Grade rough for the most part and we are just throwing it on here to get rid of some of the stuff we have laying around. This is a good lot to pick up to play with. Several stones do show signs that they will Star up but we make no guarantees. This is really unusually material for Sapphire because of the White Exterior that Afghan Sapphires are born in. This is a super price on this and well worth picking up as it is a giveaway. There are a few stones in here that look as though they should facet nice finished gems in the sub-carat range; however, the lot is being sold as Cab and Specimen Rough Only. This is a bargain not to be missed as it is almost impossible to get a hold of this material and it is only produced in very limited quantity out in Afghanistan.

COOL FACTS:
  1. Kashmir has long been the benchmark in Sapphire perfection; however, production has dwindled to a standstill over the last few decades. There are rumors that mining has been restarted though we really haven't seen any worthwhile material entering the market at a decent price. In addition to Kashmir there are several other locations within Pakistan and Afghanistan that have begun to produce Sapphire and Ruby over the last few years. There is great potential in the Sapphire and Ruby rough that comes from here as it is in its natural state not having been treated. Most sellers out here are looking for sources to treat their material but none seem to have had any luck so far.
