DESCRIPTION:

Awesome lot of Pastel Pink to Bubble-gum Pink Afghan Tourmaline. Most of this lot is Cabbing Grade; however, there is roughly 25% or so that is Medium to Top Facet Grade. The facetable material is slightly included to eye-clean; however, quite a bit of the inclusions will mask up well with cutting. The actually facetable material in here is probably considerably more; however, we are being conservative with our estimates. There are a few nice large stones that should produce eye-clean or better finished gems in the 1-2 carat or so range and these should easily have you break even on the lot. Most of these stones are nice crystal sections and shaped for above average yield. A few stones in the lot are Whites and Bi-colors and there is the occasional Orangey Red stone while the majority are a Pinkish shade. This is a great bargain at this price and should not be missed! Please note that the pictures above don't accurate display the Pinkish hue on the stones because of lighting. The actual material is considerably Pinker while the above pictures came out a bit Peachy and Orangey.

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
