DESCRIPTION:

Awesome lot of HUGE Fuchsia to Pinkish Cranberry Red Nigerian Tourmaline Faceting Rough. The stones overall do have some minor inclusions but these are all concentrated on the periphery or on certain sides and there should be a clean stone that is cut from each of these with a little hard work. Overall the material is a bit dark for two stones but all three are lovely pieces and we are confident if one heated these slightly they would turn to the most unbelievable Fuchsia Pink Color (This was the result of a shard we heated).

The smallest stone looks to be 90%+ Clean though is a bit dark but should lighten up well with faceting. The stone in the middle is actually a lovely color by itself and looks roughly 75%+ Clean with a nice bulky section capable of giving high yield. The last and largest stone is roughly 55%+ Clean and will also produce a large clean stone.

This was sold to us as a large crystal section and we cobbed and cleaned it up as best we could and we are confident this is probably one of our best deals of the new year! These are NOT small stones averaging around 37+ carats! At the size of these stones we would charge $15+ Per Carat for select rough and at least 1 stone in here gets pretty close to that benchmark. All of these stones in the lot are nice and chunky crystal sections capable of giving above average yield for the most part. The stones are nice and should hold their color well once cut. The price on this just doesn't get any better!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Nigeria has steadily risen to be a powerhouse country for Tourmaline production and is now set to eclipse many traditional sources in sheer volume of material. Overall Nigerian material, like most African material, has the brownish overtones, darker colors and lacks the vibrancy and life that Afghan (and some Namibian and Nigerian) Tourmaline is known for; however, many Nigerian and African stones can cut beautiful finished gems that rival Afghan material. From my experience I don't think quality is even questionable as I still haven't seen any Tourmaline Floor me like the Best Afghani material in its natural crystal form! Afghan Tourmaline can cost an arm and a leg and Nigerian material is a great affordable substitute for everyone to have fun faceting some Tourmaline.
