DESCRIPTION:

Awesome lot of Minty Sea-Foam Green to Pastel Pink Afghan Tourmaline Faceting & Cabbing Rough. The lot is largely composed of pastel colors and the material is very similar in color and appearance to the Pastel Tourmalines that are sporadically produced in Maine.

This is a mixed parcel being composed of roughly 45% Cabbing Rough and 55% Faceting Rough. Almost every stone in this parcel was selected for having gemmy areas. Most stones will not produce large clean finished gems; however, there are a few stones that will produce very clean finished stones weighing in at a few carats. Most of these are chunky nodules and/or crystal sections (Many of the stones in here are practically preformed because of the crystal structure of Tourmaline). These are all a nice size with the average stone weight running about 8.5 CARATS!

Please note most stones do have at least minor inclusions; however, most stones in the parcel have at least one very gemmy area suitable for faceting. We are blowing this out at $2.00 per carat and at that price you would be hard pressed to find a better deal at the mines! Don't miss your opportunity to purchase this super discounted lot!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
