DESCRIPTION:

Spectacular lot of Afghan Tourmaline running from a Deep Pastel Yellowish Green to a Pastel Pink in color. This is very similar in hue to the material produced at the Himalaya mine in the past; however, the saturation is toned down considerably. Almost every stone in here is a nice chunky crystal section (Many of the stones in here are practically preformed because of the crystal structure of Tourmaline). ALL OF THESE ARE OPEN C AXIS!

Many of these have very minor inclusions; however, this is SELECT Faceting Rough and most of the stones in this lot will cut eye-clean to very slightly included with a little hard work and planning. Some stones are in here because of an inclusion that will force you to divide the rough into two clean finished gems while others have inclusions between a bi-color color junction. Most of the inclusions are located on the periphery and should facet out; however, yield will probably be average or thereabouts.

This is the material that you see retailing for $10.00+ per carat! This is High Faceting Grade material having almost every bad stone picked out and there are quite a few killer pieces in here. We are confident you will get a spectacular finished gem from practically every stone in here with a little work. This is one of our best deals likely to go quick so don't pass this by!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have rarely seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
