DESCRIPTION:

Spectacular lot of Afghan Tourmaline running from a Cobalt Blue to an Electric Bluish Green. Most of these are SUPER clean and almost every stone is a nice chunky crystal section ideally shaped for high yield (Many of the stones in here are practically preformed because of the crystal structure of Tourmaline). The bulk of the stones in this lot will cut eye-clean or better with most able to facet 10x clean.

This is the material that you see retailing for $12.00+ per carat! Please note that roughly 75% of this material has a closed C axis while the remainder has an open C axis. Furthermore, it is important to note that there are several large stones in here and the above average weight is a bit misleading. If you were to take out the largest stones in the lot (Roughly 1/3rd of the Lot), your average would probably almost double for them! Some of the above pictures show the material lighter than it actually is and you should use the last two pictures that show the greatest percentage of the lot as being indicative of color. This is TOP TOP faceting grade material having every bad stone picked out and there are quite a few killer pieces in here. The price we have on these is VERY close to what the market here in Pakistan is commanding and we doubt you would get a better price on this anywhere else!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
