DESCRIPTION:

Awesome HUGE Chunk of Afghan Lapis that will cut some spectacular cabs!! Most of this piece is Top Quality AAA-AAB+ grade material with the larger portion being a royal blue to an almost purplish blue! This piece does contain some minor Calcite; however, it is almost totally concentrated on the exterior and shouldn't interfere in the cutting process. Please note that there are a few feathers running through this piece indicating that you WILL NOT be able to carve it or cut it as one large piece. Many of the feathers run parallel to one another and if worked proper can be used to "cleave" or slab this rough up into more workable pieces.

This material is fairly uniform lacking the excessive white and pyrite inclusions common in the market. If you look around and compare prices you will see this is a bargain not to be missed! This is what was left of our rough by the kilo for our last shipment and we are just putting it up here to finish the material up as we are expecting another shipment of 20 or so Kilos in a few weeks. (Please use the US Quarter in the photo for a size estimate).

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghanistan is the oldest known source of Lapis and is the only country in the world that has produced a consistent supply of high grade lapis for over 1,000 years!

  2. We have mine direct links for this rough for those that are interested in purchasing this in bulk in quality.
