This is a NEW FIND of what we believe is Scapolite (We are 99.9% sure) coming from Badakshan, Afghanistan. These stones really are not for faceting because of their small size; however, almost every stone in this lot is a perfect crystal. These are a very soft purple/lavender color and would be great for wire wrapping or for arts & crafts projects. It is important to note that this lot of Scapolite had quite a few Tourmaline crystals in here when purchased of similar color and size. We tried our best to remove all of them; however, you may find there are still a few in the lot. (Please use the US nickel in the Picture for size estimates).

1. This is the first lot of Scapolite I have seen coming from Afghanistan; however, since this has not been tested we can't certify the rough as being Scapolite. It is sad that all of these are very small crystals but we are hopeful we will see some larger material in the market at some time in the future.
