DESCRIPTION:

Super lot of of a deep gold Canary yellow to a Golden yellow Tourmaline from Nigeria. This is super facet grade material with the bulk of the lot capable of cutting eye-clean or better. There are 2 stones in here that look very slightly to slightly included; however, with a little work I'm confident that even both of those could cut eye-clean. Overall the color on this is lovely and the price is just right. This is a great lot for a cutter and/or a reseller. We have seen plenty of brown and orangey yellow material on the market; however, it is rare to find bright yellow and golden tourmaline this vibrant. This was a small sample that was sent to us and we are in the process of negotiating additional shipments; however, it is not going to be in the near future.

Please note that most of these stones are yellow; however, a few have lime green rinds that will facet out with a little planning. There is one stone in here that looks to be a parti-colored stone while another looks yellow and pink at the same time. I think you will have lots of fun with this lot! This is the material that you see retailing for $6.00+ per carat! This is top faceting grade material having almost every bad stone picked out. Most of the stones in this lot will cut eye-clean or better with the bulk being able to facet 10x clean. Practically every stone in the lot is a nice and chunky crystal section and/or nodule capable of giving above average yield.

COOL FACTS:
  1. Nigeria has steadily risen to be a powerhouse country for Tourmaline production and is now set to eclipse many traditional sources in sheer volume of material. Overall Nigerian material, like most African material, has the brownish overtones, darker colors and lacks the vibrancy and life that Afghan (and some Namibian and Nigerian) Tourmaline is known for; however, many Nigerian and African stones can cut beautiful finished gems that rival Afghan material. From my experience I don't think quality is even questionable as I still haven't seen any Tourmaline Floor me like the Best Afghani material in its natural crystal form! Afghan Tourmaline can cost an arm and a leg and Nigerian material is a great affordable substitute for everyone to have fun faceting some Tourmaline.
