Returned early in the day from our trip to North Carolinas Gem Shows and will be departing in the AM for the Springfield shows. Arrived in New York in the afternoon and departed for Tucson in the evening. We will be in Tucson buying and selling rough for the duration of the show and are scheduled to return to New York on February 26th in the AM.

We will be departing Pakistan early in the morning tomorrow for New York and are scheduled to make a 1 day stop-over in Abu Dhabi. PLEASE NOTE: We were only able to purchase material for 7 or so days due to a curfew in effect in Peshawar for several days upon our arrival followed by a bombing a few blocks down from the Stone Market.
As a result of the limited buying we do anticipate on taking another trip to Pakistan relatively quickly for a longer duration in the near future. We will be landing in New York in the AM on January 28th and will be departing for Tucson the same day in the evening. Due to our very brief stay in New York prior to our departure for Tucson we will NOT have an opportunity to catch up on outstanding emails until our return towards the end of February.

Farooq returned from his buying trip to Afghanistan and Pakistan late in the evening today. Please note that Farooq did NOT hand carry any rough available for sale back with him and all purchases on Farooq's most recent trip are scheduled to be shipped from Pakistan to New York July 1st. Farooq returned to Pakistan after a day trip to Kabul to gauge the new "emerging" gemstone market in the Zamurud ("Emerald") Trade Center and several days in Kunar hunting down Tourmaline. We will post a write-up in the near future detailing Farooq's visit to the Khwar Tourmaline mines in Kunar. Farooq will spend the next few days wrapping everything up in Pakistan and will be departing to the US on the 10th of June.

Due to skyrocketing rough prices in Peshawar Farooq is preparing to take a 1 week detour into Afghanistan in search of better deals. Farooq is tentatively working on a trip to Kabul and several towns in Kunar in search of Clinohumite, Spinel, Tourmaline and anything new coming from the region before returning to the States. As a result of travel plans correspondence will be limited until Farooq is back safe and sound in New York. He is tentatively scheduled to return to the States on June 11th via Pakistan.

Farooq arrived in Pakistan roughly 1 week ago and spent the last week reviewing rough and availability in Peshawar. Prices have skyrocketed since his last trip to Pakistan and even though rough is available in larger amounts (with the exception of Peridot and a few rarities) the competition is fierce for higher caliber goods.
Please note that we are now set-up to receive emails in Pakistan more regularly and will try to reply to any incoming emails in a more timely fashion. We are currently backlogged a bit on emails and will respond to all outstanding emails within the next few days and/or as time permits. We are presently working on making several offerings direct from here via our "Stoned" E-Newsletter over the next few days. All offerings will generally be in larger parcels due to time constraints. We have been shopping around traveling back and forth between Dar Es Salam and Arusha picking up whatever rough we can at a reasonable price since our arrival. Overall, production here is practically at a standstill for everything with the exception of Tanzanite which is going strong; however, Tanzanite prices are hovering around $600-$700 Per Gram for AAA select rough with good shape. Prices for locally cut material in the same quality are running roughly $280-$350 Per Carat. We have managed to stock up a bit on various Garnets, Spinel, Sunset Tourmaline, Moonstone, Chrome Tourmaline, and Umba Sapphires amongst other things. After picking up most of what was available at a reasonable rate in the main markets we are working on finalizing our first trip out into the Bush and we will hopefully be departing within the next day or so.

Mike and me went in for our periodic Malaria test today. I unfortunately tested positive for Malaria while Mike was lucky to dodge it. I'm still trying to figure out how Mike gets away with wearing the T-Shirts and Shorts and I get hit with the bug while covering practically every inch of my body! We are told it is peak Malaria season here and it seems like 20% of the people we are meeting seem to have Malaria! I will be taking it a bit slow for the next few days while on medication which is suppose to run 5 days but can potentially be up to 7.

Mike and me landed in Dar Es Salam, Tanzania early in the morning and will probably be in Tanzania for the next few weeks before moving on to Mozambique and possibly other East African countries depending on rough availability. We have done it again! This is some of the rarest stuff on earth. We were lucky to procure most of production of a new find of Tenebresent Scapolite from Badakshan, Afghanistan! This material turns to an Aqua Blue with UV exposure. We don't have a whole hell of a lot of this material so make sure you get yourself some before it is all gone!

5/19/03 We are planning for our next buying trip abroad. In anticipation of our trip we have accelerated our efforts to list rough from recent shipments. A New Email Listing was sent around to our to members for New Deals!
5/9/03 We have received 4 new shipments of rough in the last few weeks and are working to make them available in the near future! We updated sold items and sent around our New Email Listing to members for New Deals!
4/30/03 Updated sold and reserved items. Incorporated 4/11 additions into website. We are presently working on our next email listing which will hopefully be out in the near future!
4/11/03 We have been a bit caught up with the tax deadline approaching and will be slowing down a bit for the next few days. We are still working on a few back orders that accumulated. In addition, we have received 2 new shipments of rough and are working to make them available in the near future! We updated sold items and Added 30+ Lots: New Additions!

3/6/03 We seem to be back into the swing of things after our relocation. We are still working on a few back orders that accumulated. In addition, we are expecting 3-4 significant shipments of rough in the next few weeks and will be sending out some awesome new deals to our email list members! We updated sold items and Added 20+ Lots: New Additions!

1/1/03 Added two cut Fluorite lots to Cut Gems Section and Lapis Lot 2 to Facet & Cab Rough Section.
12/22/02 Added Apatite, Aquamarine and Morganite to Mineral Specimens Section and Demantoid Garnet, New Find of Afghan Garnet, Mixed Red Garnet, Fluorite, Morganite, Peridot, Tourmaline Lots 20-23 to Facet & Cab Rough Section.
12/14/02 Added Cut Gems Section and What's New History Section. Added the following lots: Faceted Aquamarine and Cabbed Cat's Eye Tourmaline to Cut Gems Section, and Diopside, Emerald and Tourmaline to Facet & Cab Rough Section.
11/30/02 Revamped website structure and added Tourmaline, Morganite, Fluorite, Garnet, Scapolite and Topaz Lots. We will be adding quite a few new lots in the near future as we review newly acquired inventory.
11/16/02 Returned from Pakistan with lots of new goodies which will be listed in the near future.
9/14/02 Off to Pakistan to purchase additional rough and get married!
8/27/02 Added Lapis to Facet & Cab Rough Listing and added "Sold" Section!
8/18/02 Added Tourmaline to Facet & Cab Rough Listing!
8/11/02 Added Client Cuts Section!
